Da Zuckerrohr fast das ganze Jahr angebaut werden kann, sehen wir von ganz nieder bis k\u00f6nnte geerntet werden. In Queensland ist es ein bedeutender Wirtschaftszweig. Die Melasse wird f\u00fcr Tierfutter, Ethanol, Export und nat\u00fcrlich f\u00fcr die Rumproduktion verwendet. Die Destillerien gibt es erst in Bundaberg und weiter s\u00fcdlich. Wir machen einen Abstecher dort hin und hoffen noch auf etwas aus 1883 zu treffen. Nat\u00fcrlich ist sie inzwischen Hightech, der Ursprung d\u00fcrfte inzwischen verloren gegangen sein.
