H\u00e4user am Weg zum Fort<\/p><\/div>\n

 <\/p>\n

Heute geht es nach San Juan, zwar mit kleinen Umwegen, aber wir treffen sicher in San Juan ein. Unser Ziel f\u00fcr Heute ist ein wenig die Stadt zu besichtigen und nat\u00fcrlich die beiden Forts.<\/p>\n

Details am Rande<\/p><\/div>\n

Am Weg zum Fort del Morro genie\u00dfen wir die Altstadt. Als wir am Vorhof vom Fort stehen, bleibt uns die Luft weg. Es ist Sonntag und wir haben heute viel Wind und die Einheimischen lassen ihre Drachen steigen, wie bei uns im Herbst und in weiter Ferne taucht das\u00a0El Castillo San Felipe del Morro.<\/p>\n

San Felipe del Morro<\/p><\/div>\n

1539 begannen die Siedler mit dem Bauwerk , 1589 war die erste Bauphase beendet, in den n\u00e4chsten 250 Jahren wurden immer weiter verbessert und vergr\u00f6\u00dfert. Die 5 Meter dicken Mauern erheben sich 42 m hoch \u00fcber der Stadt. Immer wieder wurde das Fort angegriffen, hielt aber alle Angriffe stand. Erst w\u00e4hrend des Spanisch-Amerikanischen Krieges konnte die US Navy das Fort erobern und im Pariser Vertrag ging Puerto Rico an die USA.<\/p>\n

El Castillo San Felipe del Morro<\/p><\/div>\n

Die Festung ist riesig, hat\u00a0sie doch 6 Stockwerke und ist so gut wie komplett erhalten. Wir kommen aus dem Staunen kaum raus. Wir sehen uns die Ebenen 3-6 an, finden aber keinen offenen Zugang zu 1-2. Erst beim Ausgang bekommen wir den Hinweis, dass dieser Teil \u00f6ffentlich und frei betretbar ist. Nat\u00fcrlich mit dem Hinweis, auf dem Weg gibt es keine Restrooms, keine Pinte und keinen Schatten, „be carefully“! Ja wir sind in Amerika.<\/p>\n

Die Stadtmauer ist m\u00e4chtig und so gut erhalten und alles wird laufend instand gesetzt.<\/p>\n

Nach 3 Stunden „Fortress“ haben wir uns eine Erfrischung verdient. Wir sitzen in einen der Lokale in der Innenstadt und bald finden uns Kathi & Friedl, die ebenfalls durch die Stra\u00dfen San Juans spazieren und ein wenig shoppen.\u00a0Viel zu Gro\u00df um alles auf einmal zu sehen ist unsere Res\u00fcmee! So spazieren wir zum Auto und finden es auch auf Anhieb.<\/p>\n

Golfcar f\u00fcr die Polizei<\/p><\/div>\n

Raus aus der Stadt waren wir noch gut, aber dann ein Fehler beim Abbiegen und wir sind irgendwo – keine Ahnung wie es weiter geht. Ich bleibe am Stra\u00dfenrand stehen und schon steht die Polizei mit Blaulicht hinter mir. Das ist ein Gehsteig, da d\u00fcrfen wir nicht stehen bleiben! He?\u00a0Da geht doch keiner! Ich fahr zur n\u00e4chsten Tankstelle. Dort schalten wir unsere IPhone App ein und diese bringt uns wieder auf den richtigen Weg.<\/p>\n
